The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), PL 101-476, was reauthorized by Congress on May 14, 1997 and signed into law by President Clinton on June 4, 1997. The new law is the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Amendments of 1997, PL 105-17.
The proposed regulations for the IDEA Amendments of 1997 were released on October 22, 1997. There will be a 90-day comment period, during which the Department of Education will be receiving comments on the proposed regulations.
