Q: What about other food issues??
A: Write them in-- lactose intolerance, severe allergies, etc. We need to know now for menu planning issues. If you list something, our Cook, Mrs. Craley, may contact you to clarify your restrictions.

Q: What t-shirt size should I get?
A: These sizes are the standard mens' ones. We suggest you DO NOT 'go big.' We will be wearing these shirts downtown on Friday for a photo opportunity and our scavenger hunt. We strongly suggest you get the correct sized shirt rather than a larger one so as to be able to wear the shirt as an unofficial "CGS Uniform" for events back home. Be aware, there MAY BE an additional $2-3 charge for shirts size XXL and over. Anyone selecting this option will be notified should an additional charge be incurred and given the option of selecting another size.

Q: But what if I don't know my GSUSA ID number??
A: Don't worry about it, we can find it. It's just more important for insurance reasons that you be registered. If you don't know your number, just note that you are registered and with which council.

Q: What is the registration deadline?
A: There is no final deadline. Registrations will be accepted until the 100-person CGS capacity is reached. BUT, DO NOT MAKE ANY TRAVEL PLANS UNTIL YOU HAVE RECEIVED A CONFIRMATION LETTER!! The first round of confirmation letters will be sent out after January 1, though every attempt will be made to send early applicants an interim confirmation via email.

Q: How is this "using the camp but not 'going camping' thing going to work?
A: Basically, we're using it for the facilities. We're using the glen shelters, tree houses and lodges, but it's going to be a conference-style program. No crafts, no cooking in box ovens (or whatever). Meals will be prepared for us in the central lodge, and kapers will be minimal (basically keeping your unit site clean). We will have a campfire, since it's not really Girl Scouts without smores and songs. You will need to bring: a sleeping bag and pillow (if desired), a vapor barrier or inflatable mat (trash bag or shower curtain works well), and a sit-upon.

Q: What facilities are available at the camp? Is it handicapped-accessible?
A: Camp Crowell has two lodges. The main lodge is fully handicapped-accessible, as are two of the units we will be using. There is an amphitheater, a fitness course, hiking trail system, many fire circles, a games field, and all the rest of the 'camp amenities.' The lodges do have running water and flush toilets; all units have standard latrines.

Q: What do you mean by "Payment in full"?? Does this include the early arrival fee?
A: Don't pay the Thursday night early arrival fee yet-- you can pay that later once your travel plans are finalized. Early arrival payment should be $85.

Q: Are deposits refundable?
A: No. All deposits are completely NON-REFUNDABLE.

Q: Is financial assistance available?
A: As a general answer, no. Assistance is not available from AU CGS, GSCNC, or GSUSA. Because the Parallel Conference workshops are being classified as Adult Enrichment Training, some councils may make funding available for potential Parallel Conference delegates. (This is adult training not offered within a council's borders.)

For regular CGS Conference attendees, we encourage you to consult with your councils about aid resources available to you. Loans, money-earning projects, or adult program grants may be available; these vary from council to council so please consult with your Field Executive. You might also want to consider asking the Service Units (Neighborhoods) or troops with which you or your group work to help you. See Safety-Wise 2000 for more ideas.

Q: How does the selection process for the Parallel Conference work?
A: Parallel Conference applications and personal statements (and any letters of recommendation) will be reviewed by a CGS team. With the input of GSCNC, we will select Delegates and send them confirmation letters. THIS DECISION WILL NOT BE MADE UNTIL AFTER THE JANUARY 1, 2001 EARLY BIRD DEADLINE. Checks will not be deposited until then. Applicants who are not accepted will have their deposits returned. Please keep in mind, there is a limit of 20 participants for the Parallel Conference.
