i really like the way i find new little things on john's webpage in many places.

surveying the house i have to wonder what my net worth is.....and wonder what the draw would be if i yard saled the entire accumulation of 26 years of second-hand furnishings. i've existed without couches and chairs before.....a cardboard box covered with a tarp served as a table. a milk crate with a small borrowed t.v. eventually made its way in. it was pleasant and quiet....and charming.

i think i could easily part with the furniture, but the bigger part of my mess lies with the smaller possessions. i wish i knew what made me cling to the rabble stuffed under beds and into boxes in the storage closet. those tiny rememberances that will have us racking our brains when we're older just trying to recall......

"this gum wrapper with the horoscope.....1980......82?"

i've written before about the shoebox...and its signifigance. and i wonder if my clingy nature and pack-rat style grows out of the enormity of my memory. more than anyone i know i remember the insignifigant moments. and i have to question whether it is a blessing or a curse. and each and every item i have is a stimulus to an emotional response. most spark a bittersweet smile and then i know that when it's all said and done i have been generally happy....and perhaps somewhere in one of the letters i will see that i did make a difference.

what i want ultimately:

1. a pet pygmy goat that follows me like a dog.
2. a big piece of land to live on with distance from neighbors.
3. a greenhouse to grow my plants in.
4. to live off the sweat of my brow rather than my ability to pacify.
5. a creek nearby to walk along.
6. to live in or near the mountains.
7. continuous education.
8. a real zest for life.
9. to never have to dress one way or another.
10. a reason to wear my coveralls.

sigh......i just deleted about 150 messages from my e-mail accounts. it's sad when you get so much spam. what i don't understand is the e-mails i get advertising "hot teens" and "how to meet and win women". what's up with that?! i got a hotmail account about 2 months ago....2 of my friends use it and i have received an average of about 8 junk messages a week. i never use this address to sign up for any mailing lists or anything. so, what gives?
