i'm a trial and error coder...sorry for the inconvenience...that pretty new logo...well, i did it in paintbrush.....please, please hold the applause. i liken my site to a 6 year old's coloring book....it has it's own charm.

"one of the basic laws of politics is that action moves away from the center. the middle of the road is only popular when nothing is happening."

--the great shark hunt, hunter s. thompson

hmmmm......i listen to national public radio nearly every afternoon on my way home and on my lunch breaks when i take them. the amount of election coverage has increased with the conventions and i find myself engrossed in the details. for example:

at this time in politics the democrats and the republicans are creeping towards a more centrist view......there are so few differences any more it is absolutley pathetic. we have two major party candidates that are cowards! neither will take a drastic step to speak out about their plans and their beliefs....they sidestep real issues and focus on the integrity of the office and the state of the economy. a senator (sorry i don't recall which one or which party) stated the other day that the economy was not a result of clinton, but of the american people....i tend to believe this.......i mean please, do we owe all of our country's success to a select few men in power?

the democrats claim that the republicans "colored" their convention. the compassionate conservatives had a single mom, a homosexual male, and black and latino speakers. meanwhile they also flirt with the christian right supporting family values and disregarding gay rights.

the democrats...well, they don't say much more than the fact that the air and water are cleaner and the economy is better...and it's their doing....let's keep rolling. one of the npr senators called an instance of anyone other than gore becoming president as a governmental apocolypse.....can you feel the doom? and i'd like to see the records that show our air and water are cleaner....maybe in proportion to the amount of industry, but that claim is laughable at best.....how many beaches were closed this year? i know it was way up....

don't get me wrong....i think gore and bush are both nice fellows looking for their turn...the moment that they have waited for their entire lives, but i think the american people really need to get off their apathetic asses and learn a bit more about their other options. i challenge any eligible voter reading this to take a few moments to learn about the other candidates. now, i would like to do my part.....

first, i encourage everyone to sign the petition allowing nader to debate with the major party candidates. you don't have to support nader....you just have to value your option to make an informed decision.

secondly, know your parties:

the reform party
the libertarian party
the green party
the natural law party
the socialist party

u.s. pacifists party
the constitution party (formerly the u.s. taxpayers)
in vermont, the grassroots party
the democratic party
the republican party

while at purdue i took 2 u.s. history courses under mike morrison. this little man spoke frantically and climbed the large lecture halls on top of our desks, he pounded his fists and yelled. he was passionate about what he was teaching and he sincerely believed in us and the power we held as the next generation. when ross perot came to purdue he let me reschedule an exam to go hear him speak. he taught me so much in those 2 semesters, but nothing has stuck with me more than his view of political elections. professor morrison insisted that we vote. according to him we should be jealous of those in power...jealous of the power that they had over our money. the taxes that politicians collect and distribute belong to the american people. we are the workers earning that money and just because we never see it does not mean it was never ours to begin with....

personally, i have a dream of a 3rd party revolution. when andrew jackson was elected he was an unlikely candidate....a red neck soldier....but at that point the american people were sick of the political state of affairs and they opted to take a chance.....

i heard a politician refer to the green party as "get a republican elected every national election"....to that i say hogwash. a friend and i discussed the election last night and he said he would vote for gore just to keep bush from being elected. this is how we elect a person to run our country and it's pitiful and cowardly....i will once again vote for a 3rd party candidate...........doing my part to instigate change. it could be years before we get past this ridiculous 2 party view of politics....this, my friends, is not a democracy, and it makes me sick....

i've been behind in my updating the currently reading section of the page....in case someone care, i finished where the heart is by billie letts a couple of weeks ago....it was suggested by a lady who works with the other company sharing my office space. not a bad book, but certainly not my style. now reading: the great shark hunt by hunter s. thompson. very cool.....
