i spent part of the afternoon reading erin's site...........all of it. it's well-written and the poetry is worth a gander. i was particularly connected with vivid. i won't elaborate, beacuse i need to be either packing or resting. thanks to jack for the way to....and nice redesign, so how many times can i refresh and get a new photo, anyway?

and in case you were at all curious:

yes, my head looks huge....but look at those mountains. and interestingly enough the girl in front of me was from michigan city, indiana. and i asked if she knew a couple of college pals...she nearly fell off her chair. apparently my firend eric is living in ft. collins now...i told her to tell him hi for me. he and i made a trek to bloomington for my first dylan concert together....it's a small world.

and, yes, that small red heart signifies that i am an organ donor.

let's see....where to begin.

things will be brief here over the next couple of weeks, but i felt somehow obligated to fill anyone who might be reading this site in on the happenings in my life.

we left saturday for ft. collins after a biref rendez-vous in winona....arrived sunday around noon c.s.t. we met some great dogs, and had dinner with lori while waiting for tad to get off. later we met up with brad and amy, friends of mine from indiana, and had some brewskis at trailhead in old town (might i recommend the porter). monday morning we got up early, brad came over with the paper and took us out to look at the first place a little before 11. we jumped on it. it's a duplex in the foothills that borders on a field. we have a great view of the mountains. the place is immaculate and modern, and has a fenced backyard. in so many ways it is going to be heaven.

we left after meeting the landlords wife and putting down the deposit. that night we ate at rasta pasta (i love this place. i recommend the primavera, but everything else is creative and nicely prepared....i just haven't had it...yet). that night we visited with the neighbors....people we know well already...good folks in colorado. tuesday morning tad didn't have to work so he, brad, and i headed to lovelan to hike up mount crosier. i thought i would die for awhile. it was a steep start and i am horribly out of shape. at one point i felt a bit nauseated, but once the trail tapered off i adjusted. by noon we had passed over the steep start and through a nice yellowing aspen grove. clouds were rolling down from the north and it was nearly noon.....we decided to call it an early day to avoind lightening and hit a small peak near us......well, actually, brad and tad did...i decided to sort my losses and explore were i was. the view was already catching the corner of my eye and i wanted to check out some of the native plants. the boys headed up and i walked towards the edge. noticing a level shot up to where the boys were going i trekked over a couple hundred feet, but stopped to check out some mammillaria cacti. i gazed up and saw the storm breaking fast and decided it wasn't wise to get too far off trail for fear of missing brad and tad and being an overly inviting meal for a mountain lion. it happens more than i care to mention.

on the way down we reached table rock and snacked on power bars, grapes, and carrots.

we finished the descent and made the drive back to ft. collins where we had wraps for lunch...again in old town. i wasn't quite hungry but the blackened salmon was yummy.

we left tad and ran to the dept. of revenue so i could register to vote before leaving and got my driver's license. we then ran over to the landlords and paid the pet deposit plus first months rent. we can move in today if we want. we ran by mandy, jeff, amy, and brad's place, watched that 70's show (very funny) and came home. we left at about 8:00 yesterday morning bringing jason with us. his ride to iowa broke down in wyoming and he had made it to colorado where he was going to catch a bus to his granddaddy's funeral. he rode with us to alton, iowa, and we hit winona last night at 1:00am...slept at brad's parents and then got home at 11:30am. now we're trying to get the rest figured out.
