Second Company Started...

In February 1931, Mr. John McNeish, an Officer in the 1st Singapore Company, formed the 2nd Singapore Comapny at the Straits Chinese Methodist Church (now known as Kampong Kapor Methodist Church) with Rev. Goh Hood Keng becaming the Company's first Chaplain...

Second in brief... 

  • 1931- Second Singapore Company was formed by Mr. John McNeish at the Straits Chinese Methodist Church, (now known as the Kampong Kapor Methodist Church).
  • 1933, Cpl. Choy Ah Soo of Second Company was one of the two Singapore representatives at the BB Jubilee Camp in Glasgow, Scotland.
  • 1934/5 - Second Company won the Brigade Drill Competitions to carry the Colours for two consecutive years.
  • 1942/5 - all BB activities were suspended due to the Japanese Occupation.
  • 1946, Second Company revived with Mr. S. Matthews as Captain after the war. 
  • 1953-55, Second Company won the Drill and Squad Drill Competitions to carry the Colours for three consecutive years.
  • 1959, won both Drill and Squad Drill Competitions again.
  • 1966, won the Inter-Company Gymnastics Competition for the first time.
  • 1967, due to extensive church renovations, the company moved its weekly parade to Rangoon Road Secondary School. 
  • 1968, company won all major compeitions and Battalion trophies such as Badminton, Football, Athletics, Gymnastics, Fife Band, and others. Also won the Malaysian Anchors 'Top of the Form' Contest and the "Neena Manasha Shield' beating 22 other teams from all over Malaysia.
  • 1969, won Bugle and Fife Band trophies.
  • 1974, Mr. Adrian Lum, Mr. Fong Lup Meng and Mr. Ho Teng Chan were seconded to the Toa Payoh Methodist Church to assist in forming the 10th Singapore Company.
  • 1977, due to falling recruits, we moved over to Bendemeer Secondary School for its weekly parades as one of the school's major ECA.
  • 1981, Second Company celebrated it Fiftieth Anniversary with a few events and an anniversary dinner. 
  • 1982, officially moved to Victoria School for its weekly parades as most of its members are in Victoria School. 
  • 1984, hold a Company Review and Display in Victoria School involving both the Company Section and Junior Section.
  • 1986, won the Brigade Drill Competition after 27 years, last won in 1959.
  • 1991, celebrated our Diamond Jubilee and started the 60th Singapore Company in Raffles Institution.
  • 1993, won the Brigade Drill Competition and also the Brigade Best Company.
  • 1997, for the first time in history, won the Brigade Bible Quiz and also the Best Drama.
Till today, Second Company is one of the major ECA in Victoria School and Top Company in the Brigade.
