Results from the end of the competition show the ten week stint was a lot of fun and many teams improved their game play considerably. It was no surprise which team was
overall winner, but the way they pummelled their opponents was a surprise.

Congratulations to
Never Enough on winning the competition and thanks to Captains, Referees, Competition Secretary (Liesbeth) and Cowles Stadium for making it happen. Rather than running a regular Korfball competition over the summer, we
will be holding a number of one-off events and tournaments. Regular Tuesday evening Korfball, again at Cowles Stadium, will start next March. Put it in your diary now!
Kaikoura Calls
There is huge interest in starting Korfball in Kaikoura, initiated by Monique Smith who is the sports co-ordinator for the Kaikoura High School. Yke ran some training sessions for an enthusiastic group of 70 to 80
korfball beginners a couple of weeks ago. To help show them what the game is all about, we are will travel up there on Saturday 4 November for a game and some training sessions.
If you are interested in a
trip to Kaikoura, some Korfball, and the chance to meet some new Korfballers, we are hoping that enough people will be interested to make up two teams. It will basically be a one-day trip, but Monique says that
anyone who wants to stay on and see the sights or sample the Kaikoura nightlife will be welcome to stay at her place. Interested? Contact Rob: rob@prsouth.co.nz tel 351-6207 (h) or 379-0450 (w)
Junior Korfball
Liesbeth and Kate (Forest Dumps) are organising an eight-week Korfball competition for juniors. Aimed at introducing korfball to 10-12 year olds, this will be held at Cowles Stadium on Wednesday afternoons, from
3:30 - 5pm from 18 October. We are hoping that around 40 players will be involved. If you know or are related to anyone who is in this age group, who might be interested in Korfball, contact Liesbeth: bruchem@xtra.co.nz
tel 381-4253 (h). These is No charge for participation.
Outdoor Tournament A one-day outdoor Korfball tournament is planned for Sunday 26 November. This will be organised on 'beach korfball'
rules - 20m x 20m pitch, one post, teams of four to six players, with two 'rotating' subs available. Of course you will still have 2 men and 2 women on the pitch at a time. Apart from a minor change in the
way the game flows, the rules are just the same as in the full-size game.
Details will be confirmed over the next few weeks, but the likely venue is Hagley Park. Hopefully some 'out of town' teams will also be
involved, and there will also be a section for our juniors.
Note - if you are interested, entering a team will be much easier than usual, since you will only have to talk three other people into it. This will be
a good chance to introduce new people to Korfball! To register an interest, contact tournament organiser Ngaire: ngairesmith@xtra.co.nz or telephone 341-6458 (h) or 384-5441 (w)
Development Strategy Sport Canterbury is assisting in the preparation of a development strategy for Korfball NZ. We want to work out where we are going and how to get there. To start this
process, a workshop will be held at 47 Swanns Rd on Monday 9 October from 7:30 pm. If you want to help guide the development of Korfball, please come along for the evening. Pizza will be provided. If you
are interested, but not able to make that evening, please let Rob know what you think we should be doing (in writing) rob@prsouth.co.nz, or post to 9 Wairakei Rd.
Annual General Meeting
Korfball NZ's 2000 AGM will be held on Sunday 12 November, from 1pm, at 9 Wairakei Rd. All welcome. Barbecue will be provided. Take the opportunity to tell us what you want to change about the
