Selland Arena, Fresno, CA - July 26th, 1998
Jeff Jarrett took on Val Venis to start off the pay per view. Kaeintei
tried to head to the ring before the match, but they were ushered
back. Yamaguchi-san was able to make to the announcing table where he
spent the match. Tennessee Lee helped Jarrett get the advantage, but a
distracted Jarrett was surprised by a roll-up pin by Venis. WINNER:
VAL VENIS.
X-Pac tried to get the European title from D'Lo Brown in the next
match. Brown tried to slow down the pace set by X-Pac early in the
match. X-Pac became restricted on many moves because of the size of
Brown. Brown was able to hit a powerbomb to gain the victory. WINNER:
D'LO BROWN.
Terry Funk announced that he was taking time off after the match to
recover and recharge himself while his partner Bradshaw did not seem
happy about the announcement. They were there to take on Scorpio and
Faarooq. Funk and Scorpio saw no love loss when they hooked it up. A
450 splash on Funk was all Scorpio and Faarooq needed for the win.
Afterward, Bradshaw saw himself snap and take all three men out.
WINNERS: SCORPIO and FAAROOQ.
Mark Henry and Vader looked to see who was possibly the strongest man
in the WWF. Vader schooled the younger opponent for the opening of the
match. Henry created little offense until he was able to kick out of a
Vader splash from the ropes. A powerslam by Henry gained the victory.
WINNER: MARK HENRY.
Kane and Mankind hold an interview with Paul Bearer at their side. The
simply state that they will take care of business tonight until the
New Age Outlaws head to the ring. The former champions challenge the
current champions for the belts on Monday's RAW. Bearer accepts for
his side, and the men brawl till officials break it up.
The Disciples of Apocalypse members Skull and 8-Ball took on the LOD
2000. Paul Ellering was in the corner of the D.O.A members, and he
helped distract the LOD 2000 enough to get the victory for his team.
WINNERS: SKULL AND 8-BALL.
Vince McMahon comes to the ring and states that how Undertaker might
not show up tonight. If that happens, he states, it will be Steve
Austin's fault. He goes on to read the rule that gives him the power
to issue a replacement. The replacement he announces is the Brooklyn
Brawler, Steve Lombardi.
Dan Severn is special referee as Owen Hart and Ken Shamrock lock it up
from the Hart Dungeon at the home of Stu and Helen Hart. The room is a
plain room with a mat on the ground. The men use the walls and
ceilings of the room to gain the advantage. Hart rams Shamrock into
the ceiling while Severn is knocked down. Hart puts on a submission
move and slaps Shamrock's hand to the mat, in sort of a mock tap out.
Severn sees it, and awards the match to Hart. WINNER: OWEN HART.
It was the best of three falls when Rocky Maivia took on Hunter Hearst
Helmsley. The Nation of Domination was able to help each man as Maivia
took the first fall, but a Chyna DDT on Maivia was able to gain the
second fall for Helmsley. The last fall went to a time limit draw, and
Maivia walked away with the title. NO WINNER.
Jacqueline and Sable faced off in a bikini contest. Jacqueline started
by revealing a very small one piece that accidentally exposed a
nipple. Sable then revealed a very conservative two piece. She said
that Vince McMahon wished to be conservative. Then Sable pulled off
her top to reveal two hands painted on her breasts. McMahon came to
the ring to cover her up.
Undertaker was there when he teamed with Steve Austin to take on Kane
and Mankind for the WWF Tag Team titles. Undertaker did not want to
tag out early and worked the early parts of the match. Austin was
eventually tagged in, and the tension between Austin and Undertaker
built real high. Undertaker took Mankind outside the ring, and the
referee was not paying attention to Austin trying to pin Kane. The
match went on till Undertaker hit the tombstone on Kane for the win.
WINNERS and NEW WWF TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: UNDERTAKER and STEVE AUSTIN.
