Hi my name is Scott Miller and this is my referee page. Feel free to browse and e-mail me your comments.

As you can see I am affiliated with USA Hockey. I am a player, official and a member of the Blue Line Club. At the USA Hockey site you can find lots of information about hockey in the US, Ice hockey rules, how to become an official, and other assorted areas. If you are a hockey person, this is a must see!

Being a hockey official is a great way to give back to the game. It is also a great way to exercise. This season will be my 5th year as a Level 3 official. As a level 3 official I am allowed to refreee, in either 2 or 3 man system, up to the High School level. That will be another exciting challenge this season.

A new development just occurred, I just got a new ref scheduler in Ozaukee. I hope this lady does as good as Don did.

Don, thanks for all the hard work I don't know if people have thanked tyou but I will. I know that is a tough job. Hope to ref with you this season. My "home bases" for officiating are at the Ozaukee Youth Hockey Association, located in Cedarburg, Wisconsin and the Washington County Youth Hockey Association, located in West Bend, WI. I even got my picture in a local magazine that was doing a story on youth hockey in the North Shore Area.

It really is a nice picture, but it doesn't look that great scanned. Thanks to Northshore Lifestyles for the picture of myself.

If you are an official please when you sign my guestbook (icons are at the bottom of this web page) please be sure to tell me where you ref. It will be interesting to see who actually uses this page. Like always, feel free to make any comments.

REFEREE QUESTION

There will be a new question before the season begins.

MY RESPONSE

YOUR RESPONSES

This response has nothing to do with my question, but I thought I would publish it anyway. This is from Sue Cassidy out of Canada, she writes:

I am a level 4 ice hockey official based in Toronto. I worked as a linesperson at the Women's World Championships last April in Kitchener, Ontario. My biggest game was the Bronze Medal game between Finland and China. I strongly encourage other female players to become involved as an official. There are so many opportunities coming to us in the future in women's hockey. The Olympics are just the beginning.

I hope this guestbook signing might encourage more women to look into becoming a referee.

Here is sometihing from my guestbook that I think some of the younger official might enjoy:

Enjoyed reviewing all data, and found it to be very interesting. My son, Dennis LaRue, NHL ref (#14) started out like most in guest book. It has been quite a thrilling ride to say the least. After his playing career through junior "B" he play in the 1980 Allen Cup as a defenseman, 1980. That was the Canadian Senior Amatuer, prior to getting involved as a ref. Working his way up from the bottom levels he found himself doing WHL games. Went on to do the Canadian Olympics in Calgary doing the bronze medal game and then on to doing the World games in Lake Placid and then again in Moscow, Russia. Then on to the college hockey scene followed by the IHL/AHL having reff'd the IHL All Star game then on to to the NHL. Ref-ing is a very rewarding life experience and I would encourage all involved to hang in there, you just never know where you may end up. Blessings to all. Bob LaRue

For all who aspire to reach the pinnacle of officiating this should be of some inspiration to you
