Congratulations to Kristin Maloney on her All Around Victory
DAY 1-
Elise Rays Uneven Bars routine was done really well. She has beautiful lines and form on that Event Vanessa Atler once again was Overscored on Floor. Her first pass is the highlight of the Routine, she does it really well. She could get a little more height and form on her double layout tho. I still really dislike her dancing. She never finishes her dance moves, and is so Jerky in her movement, it makes the whole routine hard to watch. Kristin Maloney's floor was way underscored. She had trouble only on her last pass and they took a good 3 tenth deduction for that mistake. Her Layout with a full twist was underotated also. She also needs to work some what on her dance. I still think her score deserved to be in at least the 9.575 Range even with the step out of bounds What will it take to get Jennie Thompson's Beam and Floor work on T.V. Her Uneven Bar routine has improved greatly, She just needs to work a little on pointing her toes and her form. I also think her Vaults have gotton better also. It is Obvious she has done a lot of work on those over the last year or so tho. Vanessa has great height on her jumps (Beam) but never gets takin off for her bobbles. That huge bobble on her two footed Layout was at least a 3 to 4 tenths deduction. But when you add up her other little mistakes with her bobble, The score is much less then the 9.3 range. I can't get over how much Dominique Moceanu has improved on her Vaulting. Her Beam was the highlight of the competition for me, and I am NO Domninque Fan. Her scores seemed low to me all Night. Her Floor should of been higher even with the 9.8 start Value. Her Dancing has also improved a lot. She now actually finishes her dance moves. It was Great to see Kim back in competition. She still needs to work on her form and add more difficulty tho
DAY 2-
Ill start off AGAIN with the Overscoring of Vanessa Atler. There is no way she deserved a 9.800 on Bars. Her feet seperated at least 10 times all thru out the routine. She took a step on her landing, piked her dimount. Etc.. Etc..Etc.. With all those mistakes her score should of been in the 9.500 range. And that is a bit generous. Vanessa's Beam routine was also overscored. Her score should of been inthe 8.900 Range. She did not deserve to have all her bobbles ignored. I can just Imagine what the judges would of givin her for a score if she had not made so many mistakes. I have nothing against Vanessa personally but the judges need to wake up and start deducting her for obvious, HUGE Mistakes. Elise had another great Bars set. Just look at her form, and lines and compare them to Vanessa's. Then tell me Vanessa deserved anything more then a 9.500. Elise's routine is years ahead of Vanessa and yet their scores were only a half a tenth difference. Kristin Maloney deserved in the 9.7 range on floor, yet got only a 9.6 something. Her dance may not be the greatest but it is better then some gymnast, who's name I have used way to much already. This was the Best uneven Bar set from Jennie Thompson I think I have ever seen. I saw only one leg seperation, and she really went all out for this routine Dominique Moceanu's Floor was Great again. I am so impressed with her routines of late. I think if she gets it all togeather and works on being more consistent on the Uneven Bars then she might have a shot at a top 5 Worlds finish in the 1999. Vanessa needs to work on her dance and presentation. Again I thought she was overscored. She should of been deducted more for her mess up before she went out of bounds. Vanessa's Vaults were great as usual. Kim Zmeskal's one and a half Yurchenko was landed really well. It had Great Height and Distance but had a few form breaks in the middle
