Also, he was second amongst rookies with 23 home runs, 139 hits and 73 walks, and third with 48 extra-base hits
Last season's National League Rookie of the Year Raul Mondesi of the Los Angeles Dodgers batted .306 with 16 home runs, 56 RBI, 63 runs scored and 16 walks in 112 games
Jones' 86 RBI are one shy of tying Earl Williams' Atlanta rookie record set in 1971
The franchise record for rookie RBI is 119 by Wally Berger in 1930
Chipper, who exhibited great power in the first half of the season with 13 home runs and 14 doubles (.249), batted .274 after the All-Star break (72-for-263, 10 home runs and 38 RBI) to raise his final batting average to .265

Jones' previous high came in 1991, when he hit 15 home runs for Class A Macon
