The Atlanta Braves are used to being on top of the National League. Now their domination has extended to the bollot box.

Jones, who is third on the Braves with a .328 batting average, has 397,944 votes. Hometown favorite Vinny Castilla, whose 22 homers are good for third in the National League, ranks second and 1996 National League MVP Ken Caminiti of the San Diego Padres is a distant third.

Weiss, a former Rockie who is second on the Braves in batting at .333, received 279,558 votes. Barry Larkin of the Cincinnati Reds has 227,836 votes. New York Mets defensive wizard Rey Ordonez is third.

The Braves are the only team in the NL to have two players lead at their positions.

Mike Piazza, who began the season in Los Angeles and spent a week with Florida before being dealt to the New York Mets, leads all catchers with 710,373 votes, over 500,000 more than Atlanta's Javy Lopez. Charles Johnson -- who was acquired by Los Angeles from Florida for Piazza -- trails Lopez by less than 8,000 votes.

St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Mark McGwire, whose assault on the major league home run record slowed by back spasms, leads all voters with 778,525 votes. A heated battle for second place is being waged between Houston's Jeff Bagwell and Atlanta's Andres Galarraga. Bagwell leads by less than 24,000 votes.

Eight-time batting champion Tony Gwynn of San Diego is tops among outfielders with 612,568 votes, nearly 118,000 more than San Francisco's Barry Bonds. Colorado's Larry Walker is third with 439,075 votes, with Houston's Moises Alou and Rockie Dante Bichette close behind.

National League starters will be announced on June 29th and reserves on July 1st. The game will be played at Denver's Coors Field on July 7th.
