Merrillville comes into this season with their 3rd coach in 3 yeras. The 8-14 pirates are anchored up front by 5'10 senior Shannon Wells and 5'10 fellow senior Vickie Bish. Julie Kljajich a 5'5 senior will be in the backcourt. Other contributors are sophomore Christina Peete, and a good group of juniors in Natalie Martin, Cicely Harris, Janice Marler, Keyim Pearson, Lameah Delich, and Janie Bainbridge.
Merrillville struggled early last season, but finished strong. With a new coach once again they could go through that same scenario. We were able to get Shannon Wells into foul trouble last year which kept her from being a big factor. They have alot of size upfront with good quickness. We will need to keep them off the offensive boards while forcing the ball down low on offense.
