what's up with this haiku contest?

Here's a blast from the past I found while digging around my archive... Was that really six years ago???

well, i have to say that is a pretty good question. i'll do my best to tell you
what i think it is, but this whole thing was kind of spur of the moment and
there has been precious little planning. first, it seems to me that entry
into this contest is limited to original participants in the 1998 insite
championship of austrailian rules shuffle board (i.c.o.a.r.s.b.). entries are
to be submitted on a rolling basis to juli krebs who then removes the
author's name from the poem and forwards it to our two member, top secret,
highly trained in the ancient art of haiku, masters of tai-bo, and generally
respected panel of judges. the judges will announce each day which poems
meet their absurdly high standards. these gems of oriental
prose will then be posted on the judges' choice page and will be among those
to be considered for the highest praise when the overall winner(s)
are announced early next week. it is my understanding that entries can
be submitted from 8am on monday, april 12 until noon on friday, april 16 1999.

now, as i've said, this is all total speculation on my part. the real rules are made up... er, i mean... handed down from the mountain temple on a golden lotus by the judges. the catch here is that i really haven't spoken to the judges about much of this, so at any point this could all change. - april 13 1999 at 12:15am
