Rangers TargetsLuca Bucci
Luca Bucci
After missing out on Georg Koch Walter Smith may switch his attention to Luca Bucchi of Parma or American teenager Andy Kirk of Maryland University. Kirk is widely regarded as the best goalkeeper in the world for his age. He was watched by Rangers recently when he played for the United States in the Umbro Under-21 Cup in Toulon.
Parma goalkeeper Luca Bucci may be the next addition to the Rangers squad. Walter Smith has already agreed a £1.5 million fee for the Italian international and hope to agree personal terms in the next couple of days. Bucci has already spoken to Rangers but delayed a decision when he heard of interest from Chelsea. The 'keeper said he would speak to Ruud Gullit before making an announcement on his future and is expected to do that tomorrow.
Rangers hope to land Parma 'keeper Luca Bucci early next week in a £1.3 million deal. The former Italian international will discuss terms with the Ibrox club at the weekend. His agent Vicenzo Rispoli said, "it is very possible everything will be sorted out between Rangers and ourselves at the beginning of next week. There are no other clubs involved in the deal so I do not see any major complications. Negotiations are continuing with David Murray and Walter Smith and Luca is very keen to come to Glasgow."
Rangers will sign AZ Alkmaar 'keeper Oscar Moens in a £4 million deal next week. Walter Smith wants Moens ahead of Parma's Luca Bucci. The move will make Moens the most expensive 'keeper in Britain and Rangers are expected to pay the 25 year old £650,000 per year.
