GAME Three HIGHLITES

Lightning - Regulators 1 - 6

Kickoff time: 12:00 P.M. at Gibson Junior High.
Wheather conditions: Warm and Sunny.
The Lightning had a big challenge against the Regulators, victorious in the last two meetings within 26 goals in favor, and played a tactiful game using the "Catenaccio System" a technic often used by the Italian National Team in important games or when ahead within 1 or 2 goals margin. Six Defenders, Three Midifielders and one striker. Lightning played a very well first half stopping Regulators chances to break through and a solid men to men marking system gave Regulators little chances to score and to take shoots on goal. Within the first 15 minutes the score was level 0-0 and Regulators scored the first from a scaffle in the Lightning's Penalty box and a pass to a player in an off-side position made it easy for him to kick it in the net. The referee awarded the goal. Lightning kept up with the rythm of the Regulators attacks presurring on every ball, but they could not prevent the second goal scored from distance with a lob-in shot that found Eric, the keeper, by surprise and went in the net. At 2-0 Lightning didn't gave up and keeping up the pressure on the Regulators had several breaks into Regulators's half but well mananed by the Regulators defenders that were able to stop the Lightning attacks, and at around the 24 minutes, with break through from midfield and Guy-Pierce- Kerry well manouvered passing set up Kerry on the left, which dribbled a defender and arrived on the edge of the 18 yard box took a shoot that went under and behind Regulators's Keeper.

At the half several players start to show the fatigue of the first half and the coach congratulated everyone for a well job done keeping up with the morale and reminding everyone to hung in there and to never not give up. At the very begining of the half Regulators scored the third. Soon later another on an off- side position, yet not called by the referee again. Lightning had few chances, but could not break through Regulators Defence and the fatigue on everybody was evident. Regulators scored twice more with the last goal in off-side at least 4 yards not caught by the official. Lightning played the most challengin game of the season, contrary of the Regulators that they will never have challenge in this age group and better off move up to U11-12 competitive, where some other stronger teams matches well with them and they could learn better advanced soccer, something are missing playing in a lower bracket where they may look like Lions, but not matched up and not learning higher level soccer.

Lightning will play the next meeting at Ed Fountain against the Outlaws today surprise winners over the Fireball. This it will be a good match and a chance for the Lightning to get their first win.
