Lightning - Panthers 2-0
Lightning with intelligent play and confidence snatched another victory today at the expence of Panthers. Lightning's ability and mastery of the off-side trap ruled out the few chances of Panthers to score. Panthers a good behavied team with good ball control and an excellent goal keeper tried everything they could. Lightning went ahead around the 15' of the first half with a goal by Davey on the right of Panthers's keeper. Lightning had several chances to score more goals but the brilliant saves of the keeper, couple of posts and a good defensive clearing kept the score at 1-0 by the first half. On the second Lightning pressure and good manouver gave them several chances to score but missing the target. A cross bar and a save by the keeper prevent the second and minutes later a Patrick shoot went inches from the far post. Panther managed to score twice but in both circumstances caught in an off-side position with an exceptional defensive work of Lightning that denied any chances to give away a goal either with the off-side trap and a nice save by John starting goal-keeper. Lighning found the net again with a lob-in shot by Davey from 20 yard on around the 50'of the match. Couple of other chances to score from corner kicks could not find the finish by the far post in several ocassions. Lightning scored twice more during the game but David and Patrick were caught off-side by the officials. Lightning will have a bye this coming Saturday and they will prepare to challenge the undeafeated Neusport FC 11 of Mike Spidale looking forward to snacth another victory and to build self confidende for the next challenges of the 18th President Day Tournament in Phoenix- Arizona when they will try to take the championship this year, 2nd runner up last year in the U-10 division.
