Friday, January 8th, 1999 Owners and players reach deal; NBA to start in FebruaryThe NBA is back. Finally, owners, players, fans and TV networks will be able to have a NBA season - but they'll have to settle for a short version. After an overnight meeting between owners and players, an agreement was reached and the 98/99 NBA Season will not only be remembered for the lockout and the frustrating meetings that almost ended with a cancelled season. A 52 game schedule will be played by each team, followed by the playoffs and the NBA Finals. The season will get a two week extension to hold all these games. Fans everywhere can hardly wait to see their favorite players back in the court. But the question now shifts to another doubt. Is Michael Jordan coming back for another season, even without coach Phil Jackson? Jordan said he would only tell people his decision after the lockout ended. Now, Bull's fans are holding their breaths. The NBA is set to start on February, 2nd, a Tuesday.
