Well, we had to fall down sometime.  Here we played by far our poorest of the season to let in several second half goals and lose for the first time since the first game of the season.

A silly lapse of concentration let in the opener, although it was a good finish from the left hand side.  However, the girls fought back to equalise before half time through Kelly McIlroy, keeping up her record of a goal a game.

The second half brought a superb effort by Lucy Allcock which was disallowed, before a penalty and the defence falling asleep gifted a scrappy game to the opposition.

The girls just keep getting better and better.   This was, in my opinion, an even better performance than last week as a good side was kept from a single shot on goal all game.

Within one minute Kelly McIlroy had opened the scoring, having robbed a Reading player in the middle of the park.  Then it wasn't long before an excellent passing move between Victoria Atkin and Kelly left Erin House with an easy tap in.  Erin added a third before half time with the kind of classy finish we are becoming accustomed too.

The second half saw the lead doubled, with Ashleigh Dexter netting her first goal for the club breaking through the middle.  There was still time for Kelly to add two more for her second successive hattrick, her second coming after a superb left footed cross from Erin.

Every member of a team hit by illness and injury excelled themselves, with Charlotte Brown covering in defence having an excellent game.   However, girl of the match was Natasha Jarvis who performed superbly the whole match long, despite not previously being a regular in the team.

We can but look forward to more of the same as the unbeaten run continues.

7/11   FTGFC  4    Reeves Rangers  4

A terrific match - real end to end stuff from two excellent footballing sides.  Seven goals in the first half, one in the second, but entertainment all the way through.

The match began at a furious pace and it was clear it would be close, but Reeve took the lead.  Farnborough fought back though and Kelly McIlroy equalised with a run on goal.  A second from Kelly gave us the lead then, and chances began to rain in on both goals.  An equaliser from Reeve was soon cancelled out by Kelly's exquisite lob for her hattrick, before Reeve equalised once again.  Yet still before half time, Erin House fired in her regular goal for each game, and at half time we led 4-3.   Much of this was due to the hard work and positional sense of Victoria Atkin who was running midfield.

The second half was a different story.  Reeve controlled possession and kept us under the cosh, but some superb defending kept chances to a minimum.   With about ten minutes left, the girls gave away a penalty, but Candice Semmens kept her nerve and saved superbly.  Her excellent goalkeeping form continued, and we held out for a deserved draw.  If every game was like this, my heart just wouldn't take it!

There is little doubt this is the best the girls have ever played.   Their passion and determination was incredible and defensively we were outstanding, especially in the second half.  Girl of the match had to go to hattrick hero Kelly though on a day when she just couldn't miss.

31/10    Stoughton  1   Farnborough  3

A game of two halves!  The first was a slightly lacklustre performance, although the girls more than made up for it in the second.

Despite early dominance, shots were few and far between, and Stoughton capitalised on this with an opening goal after a free kick had not been cleared.  Farnborough were keeping the ball well, but not doing anything with it.

Shortly before half time, Erin looped a fantastic effort beyond the keeper to bring us back level, but the girls knew more effort was required in the second half.

They opened brightly, and once again the ball rarely left the Stoughton half.  But once again, chances on goal were lacking.   However, the entry of Ashleigh and Natasha brought some new life into the team, and a beautiful through ball by Gemma left Kelly the kind of chance she does not miss.

This was the signal for real pressure, and a third was added by Victoria, with a well controlled volley - a great way for our captain to mark her first appearance of the season.

In the end, a well deserved win that could and should have been by a greater margin.  But special mention must go to the defence who performed magnificently and kept the pressure on a determined Stoughton team.

3/10   Farnborough 5  Reading Royals 1

A superb win that could have been more as we dominated from start to finish.
An opening onslaught resulted in one of Erin's many runs getting through and the score was 1-0.   Persistent work from Charlie Brown and Kelly finished superbly for her second goal of the season, and our second of the match.
The second half opened with a superb sliding finish from girl of the match Lucy Allgood, and despite a low period in which we conceded from a free kick, another from Erin and a great solo effort at the death from Gemma W left us high and dry.  Having hit the post and had countless other chances we deserved no less.
The defence were superb, and Candice solid behind them.  On this form, we need fear noone.

19/9   Reeves Rangers 6  Farnborough 3

For our first game of the season I was quite impressed - and it could have been much closer.
Despite conceding a couple of early goals, we fought back through a great lob from Kelly McIlroy, and a controversial penalty decision (didn't mean to lose my temper!) left us further adrift than we deserved at the break.
The second half showed us on even better form, and only a few costly defensive lapses stopped us getting what we deserved from the game.  Charlie Goodrich added a second - persistence pays off.  The third was the result of a wonderful move, finished off by Erin.
Considering this was a very good team with several county players, I feel very optimistic about the season.
