That is me in the knee brace - I need a beach doubles partner

(none of the other guys pictured are available)

I played with 5 different partners last year in the eight tournaments I entered. Two times I partnered with guys I met the morning of the tournament. I only failed to make it out of pool twice. I am considering playing in the open division this year If I can find a partner that is willing to bear with me.

General Information

Hi - My name is Keith. I live in Nassau County on Long Island, near the center, so both the North and South shore are equally convienient. I moved to New York from Texas in 1991.

I finished the 1999 season in 11th place in East End Volleyballs Men's "A" Grand Prix. I fell a couple points short of my goal of finishing in the top ten. I take some consolation in the fact that I missed almost a third of the season with a knee injury. I had the knee scoped on October 12th of 99. I am working hard at physical therapy to get the knee back up to strength.

I went on the "8th Annual Pro-Beach Volleyball Cruise", December 12th to 19th 1999. My knee was strong enough to play, although my vertical was at least six inches lower than normal. More pictures and a writeup on the cruise can be found at Winning Edge Sports. (click the thumbnail for larger picture and text)

Vital Statistics

I am 6'3" tall, weight 185 pounds and I am 43 years young. I have great endurance for any age and have a young mans body/fat ratio. I am right handed and I play the weak side.

Self Evaluation

Defense is the strongest part of my game. I can cover a lot of court. My passing is pretty good, my bump setting is good and playing indoors is improving my hand setting. I plan on doing more hand setting in tournaments in 2000. I will be working to improve my jump serve as part of my knee rehab. Most of the time I block with my forearms which means, I am early or not penetrating enough. I get a good number of touches and stuffs but could do better with more work. I need to develop more snap in my hits. I can hit the ball down but not as hard as I would like. I like to hit or shoot against the block, especially against the big block. Sometimes I don't see a smaller block or a late block and hit down into it.
