TONYA'S OLD OUTFIT AUCTIONED OFF

In a sad note, the skating outfit worn by Tonya during her long program at 
the 1994 Winter Olympics was sold off at a sports memorabilia auction in 
Chicago recently. Bids for the outfit, which included not only her costume 
but also the boots, replacement laces and the lucky "golden blades" opened 
at $10,000 and were expected by some experts in this field to reach up to 
$30,000, however the top bid was only $11,500. The name of the buyer of the 
package, which comes complete with a Certificate of Authenticity, has not 
been released. Strong rumors that the anonymous buyer could be from the Fort 
Lauderdale, FL, area are however being investigated by staff at "The 
Portlandian", as indeed are other claims that it was bought by a certain 
student in California who is noted for his repeated false claims to be from 
Australia.

Exactly how much (if anything) of this sum Tonya will get is also unknown; 
although it seems reasonable to assume that the skates & boots are hers, the 
costume in question apparently did not belong to Tonya but was in fact 
borrowed from another Portland skater by the name of Angela Meduna. It is 
worth noting that Ms Meduna also appears to share Tonya's lack of taste as 
well as her outfits; some months ago she apparently performed in a contest 
wearing the outfit in question to the SAME MUSIC that Tonya skated to in her 
Olympic long program (the theme from "Jurassic Park") when she wore that 
dress. Presumably the fact she had the same coach (Diane Rawlinson) and 
choreographer was the reason, but talk about a tacky move!

TONYA PHONY EXPOSED

Recent postings to the newsgroup alt.fan.tonya- harding.whack.whack.whack by 
a person claiming to be Tonya have been exposed as fake by well known 
Tonyaphile Christopher Jefferson. Last week several postings with the e-mail 
address "skategrl@idt.net" were made to the group, but a message sent to 
this email address by Chris gave an error message "no known address". Mr 
Jefferson has also previously been instrumental in exposing the notorious 
Charles "Chuckie" Newman as being the Editor of a certain other lie-filled 
anti-Tonya e-zine that he publishes under the pseudonym "John Anonymous 
MacDonald" by goading him into getting confused about which false identity 
he was using.

The staff here at "The Portlandian" note that "John Anonymous MacDonald"'s 
initials are J.A.M.  Could it be that Chuckie is perhaps also this "Jam" 
idiot who's been irritating everybody over on rec.sport.skating.ice.figure 
for the past fortnight with repetitive, moronic postings filled with such 
pearls of carefully thought out wisdom as "Beacom sucks, so does his music"? 
It's a tempting thought.

In either case, "Jam" is quite a piece of work - he/she has managed to piss 
off FAR more people in that group in just two weeks than Chris and myself 
have done in a whole SIX MONTHS of pro-Tonya postings - and without even 
mentioning Tonya's name at all!

A READER'S REQUEST

We have had a request from a reader that we post this e-zine to 
alt.fan.tonya-harding.whack.whack.whack. Well we'd love to, but we don't 
have posting access to that group at this stage (or even alt-spank.th for 
that matter). But be assured that you haven't missed anything; our previous 
issue was our first one.
