Billy Best's Kickoff Fanzine
"Kick-Off " released its first issue in October 1991. It was the first ever Drogheda United fanzine. It proved very popular with the Drogheda faithful. The fanzine was a voice for the fans and any profit made was used to directly upgrade the magazine and gave the reader a better finished product. Kick Off included many interesting articles such as interviews with Gary Kelly and Gerry Martin. But the main thing Kick Off will be remembered for was its humour which gave the home fans great entertainment at half-time. |

Who can forget 'The Secret Diary of a D.U.F.C. Fan aged 38½' and 'Stanley Accrington's Historical Facts'. The magazine also provided an unending supply of trivia, did you know before entering League of Ireland Football Turlough O'Connor was a professional spud picker in Athlone? The fanzine is very much missed and when Billy Best was questioned about a possible reprint of the fanzines, he stated that he'd prefer to write a book about it instead.
