The 7,160 fans at Frontier got to see a superb pitching effort from Nerio Rodriguez in game one. Rodriguez took a no hitter six innings (in a seven inning game) before getting his first and only hit recorded against him. Rodriguez also had ten strikeouts. Offensively Danny Clyburn hit his 15th homer of the season and went 2-3 with two RBI's for the game. Also Frazier played well going 2-3.
Pawtucket already had won so this helped the Wings remain tied with them. The Wings hoped to gain a half game lead over the Sox with a game two win.

Note regarding the papers listing of the Wings average attendence: You may have noticed the paper listed the Wings average attendence as being 6,116 which is incorrect. The paper did not take into account the doubleheaders and just divided in the total number of games played. The acual figures are a few hundred higher than that.
