1877/78 Club forms as Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway Newton Heath
1979/80 Begin playing at North Road, Monsall.
1884/85 Club turns professional.
1886/87 FA Cup: First Round
1887/88 Football League forms, but club fails to gain election recieving only one vote.
1888/89 Club joins Football Alliance.
1889/90 FA Cup: First Round Club again fails to gain election to Football League recieving no votes.
Ball
1890/91 A Cup: Second Qualifying Round. Stand erected for supporters at North Road Ground.
1891/92 FA Cup: Fourth Qualifying Round. Club gains election to First Division of Football League. Name shortens to Newton Heath. Club appoints A.H. Albut as First paid secretary.
1892/93 First Division: 16th. FA Cup: First Round. Switch ground to Bank Street. Win'Test Match' to stay in First Division.
1893/94 First Division: 16th. (relegated). FA Cup Second Round.
1894/95 Second Division: 3rd. FA Cup: First Round.
1895/96 Second Division: 6th. FA Cup: Second Round. Club's colours of green and gold change to white shirts and blue shorts.
1896/97 Second Division: 2nd. FA Cup:Third Round. Lose 'Test Match' for promotion.
1897/98 Second Division: 4th. FA Cup: Second Round.
1898/99 Second Division: 4th. FA Cup: First Round.
1899/1900 Second Division: 4th. FA Cup: First Qualifying Round.
