Birmingham, AL
June 21 - Protest King George II at Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center
If you still believe in democracy, join us Thursday, June 21 at the BJCC to welcome Georgie when he comes here to raise money for his buddie Jeffie.
We are a group of ordinary citizens who are outraged over the theft of the election and we are determined to make our voices heard.
Join the rapidly growing grassroots movement to TAKE BACK our democracy!
We will assemble at my house. Since I am posting this to many open lists, please e-mail me, identifying yourself, and I will give you my address and phone number. I find that www.mapquest.com provides reliable directions by using my address, but for anyone familiar with Birmingham, being only two turns off a major north/south artery, it's not at all difficult to find.
Come anytime between 9 and 1:00 PM - my studio is in a separate building behind my house - if you need to work on a sign, please arrive as early as possible. For anyone coming from out of state, Birmingham is in the Central Time Zone.
At 1:00 PM, we will load signs and carpool to the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute. http://bcri.bham.al.us/ will give you its address and information. We will try to park close together and gather at the BCRI by 1:30 PM and tour it - prepare yourself for a moving and highly educational experience. The Institute is located directly across the street from the 16th Street Baptist Church, site of the April, 1963 bombing that killed four young girls as they waited for their Sunday School class to begin.
At about 2:30 PM - to 3:00 PM, we will retrieve our signs and march from there to join the ACAAM and Sierra Club people for the protest at the Birmingham-Jefferson County Civic Center.
Afterwards, we're meeting at The Mill.
So, come on down, and let's give King George a warm welcome the 21st!

August 14th - Smirk in Albuquerque
3:30pm Environmental Groups protest at 20th and Mountain NW (at REI)
4:00pm Democrats, NARAL and others at Rio Grande and Bellamah (just north of Sheraton Old Town where fund raising dinner is).
This is from the 8/14/01 Albuquerque Journal and confirmed by the New Mexico Democratic Party 505-830-3650. Also let me correct the location of the Barelas Work Center. It is 1309 Fourth SW, Near Bridge St., a mile south of Central. Finally the speech at the Sheraton is scheduled for 6:05 pm, according to the August 14 Tribune. This information was in the Saturday morning, August 4 Albuquerque Tribune.
On the front page it says "Bush Vacation Includes Duke City"
'On Wednesday, August 15 Bush will attend a $1000 a plate fund-raiser for Pete Domenici at the Sheraton in Old Town, Albuquerque.' The address is 800 Rio Grande NW near Central Ave.
The article says there may be other appearances in Albuquerque that day, but those events have not been finalized.
Albuquerque and New Mexico voted for Al Gore, and in Santa Fe the vote was 2 to 1 for the Democratic Party candidate for President, Al Gore. The voters should show up on this day and remind the pretender-in-thief that he is a complete fraud!

Protest against Bush NYC visit
July 10 - Bush protest in NYC
To the best of our knowledge, Bush is going to be in New York City on July 10th at the United Nations. Many of us have been waiting to find out more, but we are now EIGHT DAYS AWAY and to our horror, we are concluding that no real protest is being staged.
If we can't produce the numbers in New York City, then we have a real problem. We need a response right away so that we can form a committee of people up there to get something going. THOUSANDS are protesting Bush in Europe this week, and whether they show it or not, the media will be watching this UN appearance. Foreign media will be ready to cover it.
It is almost SINFUL if we can't stage something, even at this late date. Ideally, at some later time of the day, we can include a protest at CNN headquarters in NYC. But first and foremost, we BADLY need people to be there at the U.N. This chance isn't going to come again soon.
Put bluntly, who is willing to show up at the U.N. on the 10th?
Please post and please let Pam know at: Ghich@AOL.com
This should be a TOP PRIORITY item. Pam is driving in from Boston. We need a core group of 20 or 30 New Yorkers. Please respond.
July 10 - BUSH IN NY - 1:30pm - Fifth Ave between 50th and 51st
The New York Coalition Against the Bush Agenda having a peaceful protest in Battery Park.
There Must Be A Massive Presence For Bush In New York July 10th. Bush has been avoiding New York for good reason. He knows that New Yorkers will not let him get away setting foot here for one moment without fomenting tremendous outrage.
--We will gather at 1:30pm at Fifth Ave btwn. 50th and 51st. ( I am not sure exactly where the police will put us. I will call again about this tomorrow, but the officer I talked to said it had to be coordinated with the secret service so she was not sure yet--I'm not sure when she will know. But any protesters should see us with our signs.)
--There may be other demo's on the 10th against Bush. It seems that Bush will be at Ellis Island as well, but I do not have a time. There is a permit at Battery Park for all day, --so there can be a protest there as well. Also, as it gets closer we may have news about Bush being in a hotel (or better yet) a fundraiser in the evening.
--Try to dress in black to signify the death of everything progressive if Bush is allowed to set the agenda, as well as mourning all the people who have been executed under Bush (There will have a large banner with pictures of every person executed by Bush).
--If you can volunteer to make signs, banners, compose protest song/hymns, as well as leafleting, postering, and/or doing phonebanking for people not on the internet please send info to volunteer@altavista.com
Furthermore, since the press follows Bush we are assured of adequate coverage of our grievances.

Casper, WY
August 18th - PROTEST CHENEY
7:05pm George Tani Field (Casper Rockies Game) 1600 K St.; K and Melrose (north side Brian Stock Trail)
The exact protest site may be designated as late as the day of the protest, but it has been designated as the parking lot west of the field tentatively. Plan to arrive and look for other protesters who will be congregated somewhere within a visible and audible range of the stadium.
Protesters should plan to arrive by 5:30PM and bring their own protest signs.
A note on the legality of protesting: Your rights of political protest are protected by case law and the First Amendment to the US Constitution. Even if we fail to obtain a permit for a demonstration (or there is no such thing in this jurisdiction) due to the short timeframe prior to the game, per NE ACLU Executive Director Tim Butz, we have every right to assemble to exercise our First Amendment Rights and participants have nothing to fear from participation with or without a permit. The former is merely a formality that insures there will be no conflict or confusion over the demonstration site in relation to national security concerns with the VP's visit. Plan on attending rain or shine.
If any of you had already begun plans for such a protest, than by all means, if I obtain the permit before your group does, consider your group a valid permit holder as all organizations outraged by the actions of the Bush Administration are invited and welcome.
Disclaimer: This protest is a non-violent political protest. Participants cannot block pedestrian traffic in any way and must conduct themselves in a lawful manner. All drugs, including alcohol and illicit substances, as well as other contraband (including weapons) are prohibited. Failure to observe these reasonable guidelines can result in legal consequence and participants violate these guidelines to their own risk/detriment. We ask that participants remain civil with hecklers and avoid hostile verbal exchanges that can lead to escalation and potential conflict. Legal observers and participants with video cameras will be on hand to document any such exchanges. Out of courtesy to the fans and respect for the game, our chants and audible protest will be limited to prior to the game, during intermission, and after the game. Our goal is to send a strong message to VP Cheney and the Bush Administration that their agenda is out of step with the majority of Americans and we do not wish to foster negative sentiments toward our legitimate reasons for grievance through unprofessional conduct.
Best regards, Joshua Thompson Additional
