Kitty's Remembrances
Cats are truly wonderful companions. In addition to their endearing qualities of beauty, poise, dignity, elegance and charm, they possess another attribute that is perhaps at the real center of the the attraction that many people have for cats - they are capable of forming strong and loving bonds with their human companions. The mutual trust and affection that can develop between a cat and its human companions add immeasurably to the cat's already unique and wonderful qualities. Our feline pets become true members of our families. The love that many people have for their pets can be as deep, genuine, and strong as the love they feel for a fellow person. We care for our kitties so much. We worry when they get sick. We think about them when we are away at work or on a trip. They are such a big part of our lives that we want our kitties to be with us forever. Sadly, the reality is that they have a much shorter lifespan than humans - a lifespan that can be cut even shorter by illness or injury. Sometimes the loss is sudden and unexpected. In some cases the end can arrive after a prolonged illness and we know ahead of time that the end may be near for our dear friend. Sometimes we have to be the one to make the decision to end a loved one's suffering. It makes little difference how or when the end came for our lovely companion, it is a terrible time in our life to have to endure. For most of us, the loss of a pet is for many reasons an extremely sad event in our lives, a very sorrowful time, filled with grief and mourning. For some pet owners, the loss can be as devastating as the loss of a fellow human person from their lives. Frequently adding to the sadness is the fact that it's common for friends and relatives who are not themselves pet owners to be unable to understand what it's like for a person to suffer the loss of a beloved and special pet. If you are grieving over the loss of a loved one, please take the time to visit some or all of the links that are presented on this page. You will see that many of the feelings that you have are shared by others who have experienced what you are going through. Never forget that you are not alone in your sadness - when you cry, you do not cry alone.
![]() The Rainbow Bridge - Here is an answer to the question "Where do our pets go when they die?"
The Last Will and Testament of an Extremely Distinguished Cat I have little in the way of material things to leave, only my love and magic which I leave to all who have loved me. To my Friend, I know will mourn the most...too my companions...I ask them to remember me always but not to grieve for me too long...Let them remember that no cat was happier but I have grown ill and pained. It is time to say "good-bye." I accept this part of the journey as a natural part of life. What will come of me after death? I would like to think that I will be joined by companions I've known in life. I will romp in mice-filled fields and every hour will be mealtime. I will spend long evenings in front of fireplaces with logs forever burning and curl up with memories of the love of my special person. One last request I make. I ask my friend, for the love of me, to have another. No cat can be as distinguished and handsome as I was, but my friend must not ask the impossible. To that new cat, I have left my handsome afghan throw and "stairway to the stars" climbing post. I leave him my place on the window perch which I loved so much, and I wish him a long, sunny afternoon of snoozing and bird watching. A few last words, Dear Heart, I have loved you completely and no matter how deep I sleep I shall hear you. Remember that Angels are not allowed to show their wings on Earth, there's no rule against whiskers!

Daniel's Poems Here is a beautiful poem that was written by 10-year old Daniel. He wrote it for a friend when his friend's kitty, Mr. Kitty, had to leave for the Rainbow Bridge. Daniel's poem reminds us that our departed kitties are never very far away. Thank you Daniel for sharing this poem with us. To My Best Friend, From Mr. Kitty
This is another poem that Daniel wrote. This poem is very special, it was written in memory of Kitty Lea. Every time I read this poem I believe that our departed kitties really do live on and will always be a part of us. A Special Letter It would be fitting to present here a letter written by Linda to Sue. Sue thought it was so special that she posted it at Cat's Window Bulletin Board. People who have lost a special pet, or who know their pet's time to leave them is near, will be moved by these understanding and compassionate words. Here is a link to a copy of that very beautiful and touching letter. My heartfelt thanks to Linda and Sue for allowing me to share this with everyone.
