:: History of C++ ::

Like C,C++ began its life in Bell Labs,where Stroustrup developed the language in the early 1980's.C++ is an extension of C. Prior to 1983, Bjarne Stroustrup added features to C and formed what he called "C with Classes".

He had combined the Simula's (simula was a programming language used in those days) use of classes and object-oriented features with the power and efficiency of C.In his own words,"C++ was primarily designed so that programmer's would not have to program in assembler, C, or various modern high level languages. Its main purpose is to make writing good programs easier for the programmer."

The term C++ was first used in 1983.Today Bell Labs has become two seperate entities,AT&T Labs and Lucent Bell Labs.
