Kevin could hear his heart pounding in his ears as he approached the woman. She had seen him now, and watched him as he neared the booth and slid into the seat opposite. This was it. This was him seizing his opportunity to change; he was going to get up get out and do something, rather than sitting on the fence as usual. His insides felt like jelly; she seemed so much calmer than he did. He knew the reason he was so nervous: this was the woman that would change his life. If he were to reach out and physically interact with this woman that his soul already knew so well, there would be no turning back.
He took a deep breath and spoke.

Nikita watched the man slide into the seat opposite her. She was amazed that he had made his way to her table so calmly: she felt shaky, as if her legs wouldn’t support her were she to stand up. She had spent the last few days endeavouring to influence her future; to begin to forge a new life away from her past. And now she knew that she was looking at the man who could become that future, that new life, if only she were to speak to him. She couldn’t help being so nervous, terrified even. This was it. In front of her sat her soul mate. To talk to him would be to change the path of her life.
She watched him inhale deeply and begin to speak.
“Hey…I’m Kevin.”
She smiled at him. “I know. My name is Nikita.”
He laughed quietly. “I know.”
