Cemeteries are a rich inspration to both the intuitive and the technical.
The epitaphs, icons, time-ravaged offerings of stillness and silence... all conspire to make one contemplate one's own attitude to death - and therefore life. Photography has always had an element of immortality. People and happenings come and go, but the pictures of them lie around, at once lifeless and intimate, outlasting the memories of those who made them. In that sense they are like tombstones.
