Scented Geraniums
Height: (9-36in). Leaf is generally smooth, sometimes slightly furry, palmate with large rounded lobes, other times divided in some varieties. Flowers are small clusters, each with 5 petals, the two upper being larger. Colors vary from shades of red, pink, purple, lavender, maroon or white. Seed pods are long pointed and contain tiny black seeds. Culinary: Fresh leaves are used in milk, puddings, jellies, summer fruit salads and drinks, ice cream and cakes, as well as floral cetnerpieces. Dried leaves and flowers are used in potpourri, sachets, tussie-mussies and various essential oil perfumes. |
