Why are you so much cheaper than everyone else?
I know how expensive playing hockey can be these days! $100 one-piece composite sticks? Not in my day - and my day wasn't that long ago! And out of all the players, goalies have the most equipment to get. Pads. Glove. Blocker. Sticks. Skates. And of course, the helmet. Sure, you can buy helmet these days with prefab logos and designs on them, but there's nothing quite like the look of a custom helmet. But when you're putting out that kind of money on equipment, looks tend to be the last priority for the parents, and the one thing kids wish for. So a lot of kids have to settle for a plain, white helmet.
So, why do I charge A LOT less than the other guys? I have a full-time job - this is my hobby. I look at it as a subsidized hobby - I get to paint, and kids get a really cool custom helmet that NO ONE else has! I'd call that a win-win situation!
How long does a customized helmet take?
This one's a little harder to answer. In a perfect world, it would be like photo-finishing: one hour or less. But it's going to vary, based on the intricacy the design, and how long we take in the design process. The fastest might be a week, but my goal is never longer than two weeks. I will only take on one helmet at a time, to make sure the helmet I'm working on gets 100% of my time and effort!
What can you do?
You name it! If you're looking for that one-of-a-kind helmet that's a true work of art, I can do it! If you want to pay homage to your favourite big-leaguer, I can do it! But I warn you - if you want an exact duplicate of someone else's helmet, I won't do it. Why not? Because that's someone else's artwork, and to simply rip it off just isn't right. But we can always do something similar in theme, that's going to reflect your personality, and the result will be a helmet that might remind people of something else, but it'll be all yours!
