Biography
William Henry McCollin 1851-1917
William Henry married Susannah Sissons 16/9/1873 and had five children as listed above. George Hy and Frederick were twins. It is likely that William Henry worked for his father's company since in the accounts of 1877-79 William Henry was noted as being in receipt of the wages account on more than one occasion. In the Census of 1881, after Fowler & McCollin was wound up, William Henry was described as a leather merchant's bookkeeper of 2 Rowland Terrace, Hull. In the 1891 Census William Henry, aged 50, was 'living on his own means' with Susannah and twins, Frederick and George (aged 20), at 11 Seaton St. Frederick was following his grand-father's footsteps, being described as a steam engine maker fitter whilst George Henry was described as a joiner woodworker. In Bulmer's Gazetteer of 1892 William Henry was described as a wagonette proprietor of 49 Manchester Street. His daughter, Miss Florence, was described as having a private infant school at the same address. In 1912 his address was given as 3 Tuke's Terrace, Carlton Street, Hull. According to John William's birth certificate in 1878 they were by then living at 56 Whitefriargate and William Henry was making a living as a tobacconist.
