Minneapolis restauranteur Jane Lawless and her friend Cordelia Thorn have a sort of Holmes and Watson relationship. Cordelia is the artistic director of a local theater, and her flamboyance nicely sets off Jane's more serious nature. These are traditional puzzle type mysteries, with lots of clues and a tightly woven plot, with the added bonus of a feminist consciousness.
