MARY KITTREDGE
Charlotte Kent is a freelance writer living in Medocino, CA. In the course of this series, she moves, with her adopted son, Joey Rosen, to New Haven, Connecticut. Joey, who is in a wheelchair, is one of the few characters living with a disability that I know of in mystery fiction. The relationship between Charlotte and Joey is interestingly complicated, and the stories are well-constructed.
Murder In Mendocino
Edwina Crusoe, the rebellious daughter of a rich family, begins this series as a nurse at New Haven, Connecticut's Chelsea Memorial Hospital. By the end of the first book, she's left the hospital to open her own detective agency specializing in medical matters. She is married to a policeman, named Martin McIntyre, who sometimes lends his aid. I find the character of Edwina's mother, a rich, romance novelist, quite annoying, perhaps even more annoying than Kitteredge had meant. If you enjoy medical thrillers, you will probably enjoy these books.
