LILLIAN O'DONNELL
I've seen feminist reviews that excoriate Norah Mulcahaney as a "patriarchial woman" and damn the series as anti-woman. While I wouldn't go that far, I do agree that Norah is what we used to call "male identified." She's certainly no rebel and the books are more traditional police procedurals than most of the newer series featuring women. The Mulcahaney series is probably the longest running series featuring a woman cop, and it's roots in the early 70's have given it a bit of an old fashioned feeling, politically. However, O'Donnell is a good storyteller. These books are certainly worth a look.
