A serpent slain by Re, representing the darkness that is defeated by the sun each morning.

Aton
An aspect of Re, representing the sun-disc.

Atum
An aspect of Re, representing the evening.

Geb
The earth-god.  Father of Osiris and husband of the Nile.

Hapi
The god personifying the Nile.

Hathor
The 'Eye of Re' in the form of a goddess.

Hauhet
One of the Ogdoad (see) animal deities representing chaos.

Huh
One of the Ogdoad (see) animal deities representing chaos.

Kauket
One of the Ogdoad (see) animal deities representing chaos.

Khent-amenti
Another name for Osiris.

Khepri
An aspect of Re, representing the morning.

Khnum
The god who created mankind on a potter's wheel.

Kuk
One of the Ogdoad (see) animal deities representing chaos.

Nephthys
Sister of Isis.  She helped her sister in the task of putting Osiris back together and restoring him to life after he was slain by Seth.

Naunet
One of the Ogdoad (see) animal deities representing chaos.

Nun
One of the Ogdoad (see) animal deities representing chaos.

Nut
The sky-goddess.  Mother of Osiris, Isis, Seth, and Nephthys, by Geb.

Ogdoad
Animal deities represented by four snakes, and four frogs, symbolising chaos.  They were Nun (the primeval ocean) and his consort Naunet, Kuk and Kauket, Huh and Hauhet, and Amon and Amaunet.  They were brought into order when Atum (Re) emerged from the water.

Osiris
- Other names: Khent-amenti -
A vegetation-god.  Lord of the underworld.  He was the son of Geb, and brother and husband of Isis.  He taught the ancient Egyptians the arts of agriculture and metal-working.  He was slain by his brother, Seth, but restored to life by Isis and Nephthys.

Ptah
A local god of Memphis, identified with Nun as Ptah-Nun, father of Atum, and Ptah-Naunet, mother of Atum.

Re
- Other names: Aton, Khepri, Atum -
The sun-god, and creator-god.  He created the world and then fertilized himself, producing Shu and Tefnut.  He has several aspects and names, including, Aton (the sun-disc), Khepri (in the morning), Re (at midday), and Atum (in the evening).

Seth
- Other names: Typhon -
Brother of Osiris.  He slew Osiris, cut him into pieces, and threw him into the Nile.

Shu
The god personifying air.  Father of Geb and Nut.

Ta-weret
The hippopotamus Nile-goddess.

Tefnut
The goddess personifying moisture.  Mother of Geb and Nut.

Thoth
The deputy (or place-taker) of Re.  He shines in the underworld as the moon-god, and is the god of the ibis nome.

Typhon
Another name for Seth.
