the PowerBroker: ~was the FASTEST SAND DRAGSTER IN NEW ENGLAND ~ The PowerBroker was a 23-T Altered that I raced from 1997-2000. It was powered by an alochol injected 468 Chevy, built by Don Johnson of Wide Open Racing Engines. In 3 seasons of racing it, I only managed to hook up the power on 2 passes. Clocked a 3.802 on a partial pass at the 2000 Northeast Fall Nationals. On the next run I lost the tranny on an 8,000 rpm hi-gear shift after carrying the front end for half the track. It trashed the bottom end of the motor when it free-wheeled, destroying the block, crank, rods, pistons, etc....I managed to save the heads! After three years of breaking parts and struggeling to hook up the power I gave up and decided to try something different. I decided to put together a machine that was as physically light as possible, while keeping it safe..... my goal was a 600# car. See the link to ChainReaction to see how I made out. |
