The Flinders Ranges are a group of scenic mountain ranges in the dry north of the state of South Australia.

Most visitors to the Flinders pass through the small towns of Quorn and Hawker without spending much time in the area. I hope that this page will indicate that the area has plenty of beauty of its own.

Kanyaka homestead ruins Kanyaka was once the biggest outpost of 'civilization' in the region. Informative notice boards in the area give a hint of what life must have been like in this, then, very isolated part of the fledgling colony of South Australia.

What makes Warren (and Buckaringa) Gorge unusual in the Flinders Ranges is that the flint-hard quartzite beds have been tilted up almost exactly 90 degrees from their original flat orientation. Home Flinders Top
