The debt from the French and Indian War causes trouble in the colonies

In the colonies, the outbreak of war led to what was called the French and Indian War. Unlike the title, the French did not fight the Indians. Then who was it between? The British colonists saw the need to unify and met for the first time in Albany, New York. Here seven colonies met to draft a document called the Albany Plan of Union. What was significant about this plan?

The French and Indian War left Britain with a huge war debt. They needed money and where were they going to get it? The king decided the colonies should help pay for the cost of war. Have you ever had to pay for anything you thought was unfair? That was the colonists reaction. Through a series of laws and events, tensions began to rise in the colonies and Britain began to look like a common enemy. Read about the problems on pages 133 - 141 in your textbook.
