The First and Second Continental Congress




By the fall of 1774, the colonists had decided how to resolve their conflict with Great Britain. The First Continental Congress met in Philadelphia in September. All the colonies but Georgia were present. What were the recommendations of the First Congress? Read about them in your textbook on pages 148 - 151.

It was shortly after this meeting that the “shot heard ‘round the world” was fired. As a result, the Revolutionary War started and the Second Continental Congress met. Read about the meeting on pages 152 - 153 in your textbook.
