Before DB had a Thinkin Problem, he....

David's parents took him to see Fred Kirby when he was 5 years old. He decided then he was going to play music. He asked for a guitar for Christmas, but got a ukele instead. By his birthday, he had a guitar.

David performed with Champ Hood and the late Walter Hyatt as Uncle Walt's band, throughout TX in the 70's and 80's. Walter Hyatt commented that he felt Champ and David looked up to him. He went on to say that it wasn't a paternal feeling, more like an uncle. Thus, the name Uncle Walt's Band.

David recorded an album for RCA in 1988. It was shelved so they could back another artist. The CD, "David Ball" (shown above) was released in November, 1994.

I never got the opportunity to meet or talk with Walter, the way I have gotten to with David and Champ. I only learned of his music shortly before he died. But in that time, I've grown to have a respect for his writing talents. Because of this, I would like to dedicate this page in his memory.
