Only four of us in the shelter last night: a female section hiker, a Northbounder, 'Daddy Mention' (whom I've met before), 'Blaze' and myself. We had arrived at the shelter at 7:30 P.M. just as it started to get dark. By the time we refilled our water bottles and cleaned up it was dark, so we had a quick cold meal and hit the sack.

This morning saw a 4 1/2 mile downhill hike in front of us. The end point would be East B Hill Road. We got there at 8:50 A.M. and hoped to hitch a lift the eight miles into Andover. Only one car passed in 1 1/4 hours, so we were expecting to be here for some time. Fortunately, at 10:00 A.M., "Pegleg" from the Andover Gust House turned up with a very welcomed cold coke and drove us into Andover.

Andover has a population of around 400. The town has two groceries, a post office, a few accommodation houses, and a diner. The Andover Guest House is a great accommodation place for hikers - $25.00 for a private room or $11.00 for a bunk space in the bunkroom. I opted for the bunkroom. This place is great - an old home recently renovated and extended. Hiker accommodation is on the upper two floors and downstairs is the lounge, TV and video area, and Internet access.

I had a quick lunch at Addie's place, but before that, had my Ben and Jerry's reward for the morning. The flavour this time: From Russia With Buzz. It's coffee flavoured with coffee chocolate chips…..very nice.

This afternoon I had my second reward: Ben and Jerry's Chunky Monkey - banana ice cream with walnuts and fudge chunks. Again, a great ice cream.

Goodnight all.
