The bunkroom was full last night, and although it was a hot night, the room was comfortable as there was a good cross-room breeze. I was up early and was ready for 'Pegleg' to shuttle me at 6:00 A.M., however, he decided to head for another trailhead first up, so it was 6:45 A.M. when he dropped 'Blaze and me off.

The trail was definitely improving - less rocks and smoother foot bed, however, there were still some very steep mountains to climb and descent, and that will still continue for another 100 miles or so.

My hike today was only 10 miles and I reached the pickup point at 12:40 P.M., some 10 minutes before 'Pegleg'. 'Blaze' was continuing on as he was meeting some friends in Rangely in a few days and needed to keep moving. I went back to the hostel and had a shower and went and bought a pint of Ben and Jerry's Pistachio. Tomorrow, 'Pegleg' will drop me back at the trail and I'll cover around 13 miles and return here again tomorrow night.

It's relaxing being able to spend the afternoons here watching the world go by. Quite a number of the Northbound hikers slow down a little around here to recover from the beating they took in the Whites.

That's it for today. Goodnight all, from Andover, Maine.
