21st August 2002 From:
ME27 It was great hiking today with terrific views and all was well until around 2:00 P.M. when I crossed the Avery Peak and looked for the water source. Unfortunately, it was bone dry. I had about a cup of water left and that was all until I got to the shelter at 6:00 P.M. Lucky for me that the temperature only got into the low 70's otherwise I would have been severely dehydrated. After a few liters of water I'm feeling better and hope I don't have a similar problem tomorrow. Only one Southbounder with me here tonight and the only Northbounder I saw was 'Daddy Mention'. That's it for today, folks. Goodnight all.
