I got away at 6:30 A.M. this morning. At 8:30 I pulled into the Potaywadjo Spring Lean-to. 'Lotto' and two other hikers were just packing up so I said hello and continued on my way. My goal was to get to the hostel at Whitehouse Landing. One hour later I was on the side trail to Whitehouse. Coming toward me were 'Restless' and 'Bliss', they had just been dropped off by the boat from Whitehouse Landing and were back on the trail. They were urging me to come with them; however, I needed to buy some food supplies.

I got to the beach just as the boat arrived to drop another bunch of hikers off, so I jumped on board and we headed across Pemadumcook Lake to the hostel. 'Otter', 'Wolf' and one other couple were there. Overnight I had decided not to stay there as I figured why spend one of my last night in a bunkhouse with a bunch of snoring, farting hikers when I can camp out in the Maine woods in this great weather, so I bought a coke, some cookies, and a few other supplies.

After a short while, the siren sounded from across the lake signifying that some hikers were waiting to come over, so I jumped in the boat and got across the lake for my return to the AT.

Around 12:30 I came to a logging road and car park. I settled on the grass to have lunch. Whilst I was there a couple with a young girl came up to one of the cars to get their fishing rods. We chatted for a few minutes and off they went.

Back on the trail again and in 30 minutes I had reached the southern edge of Nahmakanta Lake. There was a tent set up near a picnic table and the same couple I had met earlier yelled out, "Hi, come over and get an apple". With that, I joined them for a while and enjoyed some bread and cheese and washed it down with a cold beer. They were from Portland, ME and were touring and camping for a week. It was a delightful piece of trail magic and I enjoyed the chat. I gave my last Koala to their daughter. I was wondering who would get the last Koala - problem now solved.

I'm in my tent here tonight. 'Lotto' and 'Scarecrow' are here also, as well as two others.

It's been another great day on the trail, but now it's time for bed.

Goodnight all.
