17th July 2002

From: Pittsfield Road
To: Dalton
State
: Massachusetts
Miles: ? 1550.4 (1095.4)
Miles today:  9.6

The trail this morning was similar to yesterday, like a BMX track. One needed to keep one's eyes open for rocks and roots that would trip you. Other than that, it was easy going.

Two hours into the hike I came across a cooler next to the trail. It had cokes, Pepsi, Almond Joy candy, and baby carrots. All of this was with the compliments of the parents of AT 2002 hikers, 'Kaydedid' and 'Popeye'. Thanks folks!

I arrived in Dalton at 11:30 A.M. and checked into The Shamrock Village Inn. I then went two doors down to Angelina's and had a great Sub for lunch, then off to the laundry to wash my smelly clothes.

Mid-afternoon my friend Steve Webber arrived and we sat down and caught up with each other, ate some of the cookies Katy (Relic's wife) sent me (thanks heaps, Katy), then we had a few beers. For dinner we drove down to Pittsfield and had a nice meal at The Brewery.

That's all for today folks. Goodnight all.
