I slept well and didn't feel ill this morning. The hike into Hanover was a gentle descent all the way and I hit town at 8:30 A.M. I ran into 'Guern' and 'Donkey' who told me where the student house was where hikers can stay.

I found the house, which is real "Animal House" stuff - hikers quarters are in the basement. I had a quick shower then went up to the main street for breakfast. I went to Lou's Restaurant, where I had the most fabulous omelet.

On one of the area maps I discovered a Medical Centre, which turned out to be a two-plus mile walk. I thought I should get tested for Lyme Disease. It turns out the Medical Centre is the area hospital so I had to go to the Emergency Section. As one would expect, I had to wait quite a while. However, the hospital staff was through and helpful. Unfortunately, the results of the blood tests won't be available until the end of the week, so the doctor gave me her shift hours and a phone number where I can call her to get the results. As a precaution, they gave me a prescription for the antibiotics anyway, so I will start taking them immediately.

The trip to the hospital burnt up most of the day, however, I felt more at ease so I rewarded myself with a trip to the Ben and Jerry's Shop to buy a pint of Fudge Central, then to the post office to pick up my Polartec jacket, which I had mailed forward from Vernon, NJ.

I went back to the student house, named Panarchy, and 'Chupa' was there. I asked him what he had done for laundry, as there was none in town. Apparently the go is to head down to the university and get one of the students to let you into the dormitories where they have laundries in the basement. So, that's where I am right now - washing and drying my stinking clothes.

There seems to be a few good restaurants in town so getting a good dinner shouldn't be a problem.

I'll close off early today folks, as I want to post these journal entries off to 'Relic', but take note - another milestone has passed - Vermont is behind me with only New Hampshire and Maine to go. However, some of the toughest miles on the AT are in the next 200 or so miles.

Goodnight all.
