It's 1:30 P.M. and I'm on the balcony of my unit at The Comfort Inn in Waynesboro. I'm waiting for the maid to finish cleaning the room.

I made it to Rockfish Gap at 11:45 and then managed to hook a ride almost immediately with a young guy. I got him to drop me at The Comfort Inn. I registered, then headed off four blocks to Subway. I ordered a 12" Veggie Delight, a cookie, and the largest Mountain Dew they had. The Veggie Delight didn't touch the sides! It was fantastic! I also had a free refill of my giant Mountain Dew. I have been craving for a Mountain Dew for a week, so it feels good to have that lusting satisfied.

In my haste yesterday to get away from the flies, I forgot to mention that I saw a bobcat. I had just turned a bend on the trail (it was open forest with little ground cover) and the Bobcat (pictured) was leaping from the ground onto the side of a tree about 30 feet in front of me. As soon as he had landed on the tree he saw me, jumped right down, and ran away. I must be quite lucky as these animals are quite rare. The thing that surprised me was its colour; it was dirty brown. I had thought all Bobcats were whitish with dark spots or markings.

I went to the dollar store and weighed myself. My weight is 63 kg. or 139 lbs. Before I started my hike, I weighed 78 .kg or 156 lbs. I knew I had lost some weight, but was surprised at how much as I don't see that much difference in the mirror. I have lost 2 or 3 of my extra chins, no fat on my thighs, and a lot of my backside has gone, but still more to go. I don't think I have lost much around the waist yet.

I wandered up to Pizza Hut for dinner and ran into 'Raindog' and 'Hitchin' Post' and sat with them. It's raining really heavily at the moment so I have picked a good time to arrive in town. There are a lot of hikers wandering around; some I know, some I don't.

This town seems to be very friendly to hikers, so I look forward to exploring it tomorrow. That's all for now, so I'll say goodnight all.
