King Merlin | (204- 227) |
Merlin was the first king of Xanth. His talent was knowledge. He gathered the women of the Third Wave together, assisted the murder of their evil husbands and initiated the Fourth Wave. Merlin had one daughter by his wife, Tapis, a sorceress. He abdicated and retired to Mundania where he tutored Arthur, an aspiring King in Mundania. |
King Roogna | (228- 285) |
Roogna was delivered in 202, to a colonist of the Third Wave. His talent was adaption. He married the daughter of Merlin and Tapis. Castle Roogna was constructed by Roogna, with the assistance of the centaur community. Roogna crowned himself king in 228, due to the vacancy created by the former king, Merlin. He died in 285, while fighting the Sixth Wave. |
King Rana | (286- 325) |
Rana was the first female king of Xanth. Her talent was creation. She had one son, Rune, who was a magician. Rana died in 325. |
King Reitas | (326- 350) |
His talent was solving problems. He died in 350. |
King Rune | (351- 378) |
His talent was evocation. He was the son of Rana, a previous ruler. He died in 378, while fighting the Seventh Wave. |
King Jonathan | (379- 477) |
Jonathan assumed the throne as a zombie, as he zombied himself in 236. His talent was the creation of zombies and he was commonly known as the Zombie Master. He eventually abdicated the throne. Jonathan was restored to life in 1055 and subsequently married Millie the Maid. He briefly served as king again in 1067 during the Fourteenth Wave. |
King Vortex | (478- 526) |
His talent was summoning demons. |
King Neytron | (c.526- 574) |
His talent was bringing paintings to life. He painted elaborate furnishing for Castle Roogna, which he brought to life. In times of famine, he painted and brought to life food for his subjects. |
King Nero | (574- 622) |
His talent was animating golems. He used a number of golems to plant a larger orchard, surrounding Castle Roogna, to prevent further famines in Xanth. |
King Gromden | (623- 677) |
Gromden was delivered in 591. Although he was married, he had no legitimate offspring. A liaison with a demoness, Metria, resulted in his only daughter, Threnody. |
King Yang | (677- 719) |
Magician Yin-Yang had a dual personality; Yin was the good side and Yang was the bad side. He assumed the throne as Yang and married his first wife, Threnody, the daughter of the previous ruler. Threnody committed suicide the following year in 678, so Yang remarried. His son, Lord Bliss, was delivered to his second wife. Yang was assasinated in 719 by poisoning. |
King Muerte A Fid | (719- 796) |
Muerte was delivered in 689. His talent was alchemy. |
King Elona | (797- 870) |
Elona was the second female king of Xanth. Her talent was longevity, which could be used to extend people's lifespans, including her own. |
King Warren | (870- 908) |
Warren was commonly known as the Ghost King. |
King Ebnez | (909- 952) |
Ebnez was delivered in 883 and his talent was inanimate adaption. He adapted the Deathstone, in 932, into the Shieldstone to prevent further Mundane Waves from invading Xanth. |
King Humfrey | (952- 971) |
Humfrey was delivered in 933 and his talent was curiosity. He was promoted to the throne by the previous ruler, Ebnez. Although, at the time of his asention, he was not a magician, he was commonly believed to be a magician and was known as Good King Humfrey. While ruling Xanth, Humfrey married twice. His first wife was Dara Demoness, also referred to as Dana Demoness. Their son, Dafrey, was delivered in 954; Dara left Humfrey immediately after the delivery. Humfrey's second wife was Maiden Taiwan. Their marriage was also desolved when Humfrey abdicated the throne in 971. |
King Aeolus | (971- 1042) |
His talent was creating storms and he was commonly known as the Storm King. Aeolus created a law that sentenced any citizen over 18, who did not possess a magic talent, to be exiled to Mundania. |
King Trent | (1042- 1067) |
Trent was delivered in 997, at North Village. He was initially known as Evil Magician Trent because he sought to take over the throne from King Aeolus. He was exiled to Mundania in 1022 but returned in 1042, when he finally assumed the throne. Trent married a Mundane woman during his exile and they had one son; unfortunately both died before he returned to Xanth. On assuming the throne, he remarried. His second wife was Iris, a sorceress whose talent was illusion. Their daughter, Irene, was delivered in 1044. Trent abdicated after the Mundane invasion of the Fourteenth Wave was defeated. He retired to North Village with his wife. |
King Dor | (1067- current) | Dor was delivered in 1043 and his talent was communication with inanimate objects. In 1067, just before he assumed the throne, he married Irene, a sorceress whose talent was growing plants. Their children were Ivy and Dolph. |
