Now we enter another contentious area of bra design. Which is better, front clasp or back clasp? And beyond that what type of clasp is better? Opinionated as ever, I will junp into this fray with the weight of a natural C-cup (sometimes credible D cup, natural of course) ahead of me. Now most of you know what a front clasp is, whether you were participating in the approved removal of such a bra from someone else, or snapping it on yourself, you may have noticed that there are virtually no such designs that incorporate any means of band adjustment. The front clasps are fixed, so to speak, offering, for the most part, no means of tightening the band, as in virtually all back clasp bras. This is a very important limitation. The stronger the tension of the band, the more structural support is imparted to the cups, and thence to what they may or may not be holding hostage. Lets not forget that as a bra is worn more and more, it will wear out, albeit gradually, but inexorably. Over time, the bra will stretch out, tension gradually reduced, and support reduced commensurably, until it is literally worn out. Having lateral dimension control is as basic as having adjusters on the shoulder straps. Few bras, and you really wouldn't want them, are produced with non-adjustable shoulder straps.
Besides, the back clasp is more femininely basic to bra design,
and more importantly, at least from my perspective, a very basic
rite of passage, where bras alone are concerned, to the privelege
and art of wearing and donning a bra. Until you have mastered the fundamental art of slickly fastening hooks and eyes behind your back, you are missing one of the most satisfying and exclusively feminine skills you will ever master! Joy, bliss........
